At least one bird established a nest during spring 2023 close to Matrožu iela. The nest location was clearcut in 2021, it occupies one of the few remaining mature trees. The bird could be seen every day feeding at ground level along Zunds until late November; it chooses a variety of spots that are relatively concealed and it flees if it senses any human within roughly 30m. The bird also has been observed resting on all of the tall trees nearby. It often makes an 'alarm' sound when automobiles use the driveway. Feathers and other feeding remains are easily observable hundreds of meters from the nest. The nest location is threatened by development.
