About Dabasdati.lv
In nature observations portal Dabasdati.lv everyone is welcome to share their observations in nature – report on wild plants and animals. If you have made a photo of an interesting plant or an animal, but you don’t know its species, please download the photo to Dabasdati.lv and experts will help to determine the species. All information is as precisely as possible reflected on the map of Latvia, therefore the acquired data can be used for biology research. Please read here some more on why it is good to report to Dabasdati.lv.
It is important to understand that reporting even on very common species is valuable, if it is done simultaneously in many places and done regularly. Already now we have obtained information on places with new rare species, many interesting phenologic observations and have contacts of authors who have photos of these species.
Two non-governmental nature protection organizations – Latvian Fund for Nature and Latvian Ornithological Society created Dabasdati.lv. The site was launched on December 3, 2008 with the Minister of Environment Raimonds Vējonis and Swedbank Chairman of the Board Māris Avotiņš participating in the press conference. They both were the first to report observations on this site.
Aim of Dabasdati.lv is to promote awareness and protection of nature values in Latvia, educate society and encourage dialog between scientists and nature protection specialists.
